What is Onboarding?

Onboarding is the process of bringing a new employee into an organization and refers to training and orientation procedures implemented within a company to accomplish that goal. Onboarding is going to look different from organization to organization, but this can consist of formal procedures, such as meetings, lectures, and printed materials, or it can be more informal such as job shadowing. Onboarding can also include being introduced to the organizational culture and presented with tools to stay engaged with the company. Research has suggested that a solid onboarding process can lead to higher job satisfaction and engagement for employees.
