What is Systematic Discrimination?

Systematic Discrimination is a pattern of discriminatory practices within an organization which disadvantage specific groups of people. A company can engage in systematic discrimination without being aware of it. An example of systematic discrimination would be when a company has barriers in the recruitment or hiring process that disadvantage racialized or underrepresented populations or forcing employees of a certain age into retirement. Systematic discrimination is bad for company progress and culture, in addition to being highly illegal.
