What is Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)?

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a management software system employed by corporations that integrates crucial aspects of business development and planning into a single management system. The system is typically a set of applications or modules that address specific business needs. An ERP can incorporate an array of back office functions such as product planning and manufacturing, financial accounting, inventory management, human resources management, and order processing and payment. ERP can include customer relationship management (CRM) systems that support marketing and sales efforts, customer service, and call centers. An ERP can also include self-service portal applications for vendors, customers, and employees.

The primary benefit of an ERP is the integration of business applications in one integrated system and provide a seamless, uniform experience for all users of the system.
