What is Contingency Recruiting (Search)

Contingency Recruiting (also called “No win, no fee” or “No cure, no pay”) is when the recruiter or recruiting agency doesn’t get paid unless the person takes the job. The arrangement means this type of recruiter works more quickly, and may present more potential employees to increase his chances of someone getting hired. He may also pursue higher quality candidates for the same reason. These types of searches aren’t exclusive, so the company can use other sources, including other recruiters, on their own. Contingency recruiting fees typically are 25 percent of the recruit’s salary but that vary based upon industry, geography and position being filled.
